![]() I was initially using plexinc/pms-docker on the server (Ubuntu 19.10), but i was suffering from some various shortages and am in the midst of rebuilding a new server, so I opted to run the applet on my main windows machine for now. I am running plex media server on my windows 10 machine and that’s pointed at a share that’s on my server. I travel a lot for work and it’s so convenient for me to just watch films, TV shows and even live TV on my ipad or phone when I’m out and about. I did not try closing the Server, so will try that.So I’m an avid user of plex and am a plexpass subscriber. But if I go to Setting> server> sign in there, it will not let me sign it.Ĭanyouseeme - The port shows port. Serer Sign in - that is the problem I am having, I am signed in under the account. I think other than the first one, everything else is a X. Ping - Never done this before, I will have to take a look and try. With Plex server running it should respond as Open (wait for your Plex server to be fully up and running before you test). Now go to a remote port checking site like and check port 32400 at your IP address to see if it responds. In the Plex server settings under Remote Access - Advanced, you should see: Then make sure you have Plex server running, remote access port set to the standard port 32400, port 32400 forwarded to your server computer in the router (shouldn't really be necessary with UPnP enabled on the router, but best to be sure). I figured that about the IP, but the Plex is in my NAS, so the Plex IP address is the same as the NAS correct? I have re-set that new IP as static just like I have done before.įirst make sure ping response is enabled in your router, then see if you can ping the WAN IP address of your server location from your remote location (keep in mind that pinging your own WAN address from within the LAN doesn't work with some routers that don't support loopback NAT, so make sure you do this test remotely). I have tried the sign in/out but did not change anything. So are you saying I should delete that from port forwarding? But I thought you needed port 0 to be open? Most tutorials tell you to open the port no? This was how it was setup in the old router as well. I guess I'm not 100% difference between server and the account. go in the Plex server's settings, sign out from your plex account and sign back in. The router change probably triggered an IP change. The host will make the handshake between you and the server.īasically, what matters is to make sure your server is connecting to your Plex account and that your client is connecting to the same account. The Plex server will reach out to a central server (Hosted by the Plex creators) and your plex client will connect to that same host. So shouldn't be a problem on my end right?Īlkizmo wrote: ↑You don't need to forward any port to use Plex externally. I use ES file quite a bit to check and transfer files and can access my files etc when I am away from work. I know I should go to the remote access under Plex and manually set the port (is that the issue?), but problem is it won't let me log in there to save the setting. I checked ports 32400 and 21, and it shows it is open. Service = Plex, Ex/Internal Start = 32400, Ex/Internal End = 32400. Under the router - port forwarding is Service = FTP, External/Internal Start Port = 20,External/Internal End Port = 21. Under the NAS - port forwarding is Service=FTP, Protocal = TCP,Internal/external = 21. At the same time I discovered there was a new version for the 320L server so I uninstalled and installed the new version and re-scanned my library. I have tried enable/disable UPNP on the router, logged in and out of Plex and what seems every other options I can find. With the new router I had to re-do the ip address, port forwarding etc., but pretty sure everything is correct. I can connect at home ok, but just when I am away. Since then, while I can log into the Plex account, when I try to go to Settings > Server, and try to log in there, it tells me there is an issue trying to log in. Everything was working fine, but the Dlink DIR-855L router went down and replaced it with Netgear Nighthawk. ![]()
